We seek diversity in our workforce: a topic addressed in our code of ethics.
For example, the code of ethics establishes a commitment to respecting
diversity by promoting fair and equal opportunities for the development and
progress of all employees. Equal treatment is required regardless of gender,
age, disability, nationality, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, or political orientation.
In 2020 we held the first trainee program using blind selection. For our
operator school we seek to train local residents. In 2020, 69% of our total
employees were allocated in the North and Northeast regions. In our operations
in the North, 62% already resided in the same region when they were hired,
while in the Northeast, 84% were from the same region.
Also, in 2020, of the 1,067 full-time employees, 79.3% were men and 21.7%
were women. Based on the racial self-declaration of our employees, 51.5%
were Caucasian, 0.7% Asian, 0.9% Indigenous, and 46.9% Black (sum of
brown and black).
There was not, however, a structured management process for greater
inclusion and diversity in our workforce, and this topic will be the focus of
future studies to develop a more comprehensive program in the coming
years.
